Winnipeg City Council has approved a plan to give police officers special secure access to Millennium Library Park.

The vote was 13–3 with Mayor Brian Bowman, Councilor Sherry Rollins and Councilor Matt Allard voting against the proposal.

It is now up to the Winnipeg Police Association to ratify the agreement to purchase from enough members to fill the 264 spots.

The deal, which would make officers pay market rates, was done to settle complaints about working at the downtown police station and secure parking for oncoming officers.
