Hyderabad: The by-election at the Munugode assembly seat will spell the death knell for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Telangana party chairman Bharatiya Janata, Bandi said on Thursday Sanjay Kumar.
“KCR’s game is over and his shop will close soon,” Sanjay said, while addressing the public meeting at the end of his fourth phase of Praja Sangrama Yatra at Pedda Amberpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Stating that BJP is preparing for confrontation with TRS, he said his party is ready to fight even if TRS joins All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).
“Now the time has come for the people of Telangana to decide whether they want democratic rule or autocratic rule; a government of the poor or feudal; and Ram Rajya or Ravana Rajya,” Sanjay asked.
He said that the four phases of padayatra brought him closer to the people and he was deeply moved by the plight of the people. “I will be embarking on the fifth phase of Praja Sangrama Yatra starting October 15,” he announced.
Sanjay said that if the BJP were elected to power, it would rename Ibrahimpatnam to “Veerapatnam”, due to the value displayed by the people of the constituency.
He recalled that the BJP had been fighting for several years to demand the official celebration of September 17 as “Telangana Liberation Day”.
Due to pressure from the BJP, the TRS was forced to celebrate the day, albeit in the name of “National Integration Day”. “Credit for unfurling the national flag in the Old City goes to the BJP,” he said.
Sanjay said state intelligence reported that the BJP was certain to win the by-election in Munugode. “We will add another ‘R’ to our tally in the assembly. Rajagopal Reddy will win the election hands down. KCR is aware of the result of the partial poll and that is why, it has desperately made all sorts of promises to deceive the SCs and STs,” he said.
Stating that the SC had full confidence in the BJP, Sanjay said it was his party that moved to Ambedkar and made 12 SC/ST MPs Union Ministers. “On the other hand, KCR deceived Dalits and insulted them. Does he have the courage to make a Dalit the prime minister? He asked.
BJP chairman accused Telangana chief minister of politicizing ST reserves. “When we proposed the name of an ST woman for the presidential elections, KCR did everything possible to defeat her,” he recalled.
Sanjay refuted the TRS allegation that if the BJP came to power, it would cut welfare programs. “The BJP will never block any program, whether introduced by the TRS or the Congress, if it has truly benefited the weaker sections. In fact, we will come out with more social protection schemes,” he said.
