Stormzy’s Mel Made Me Music Video Has More Celebrity Camos Than CountOUS News

Stormzy made an impromptu return to the music scene on Thursday night with the surprise release of her new single, Mel Made Me Do It.

The chart-topping rapper’s new track has been released alongside his 11-minute music video, and it’s already got everyone talking – no less thanks to a seemingly never-ending celebrity cameo roster.

To say that the Mel Made Me Do It video is star-studded would be an understatement that everyone from Stormzy’s music industry colleagues to leading sports personalities has been on the lookout for.

Early in the clip, Stormzy is featured on a fictional talk show co-hosted by Jonathan Ross and Zeze Millz, with fellow guests Louis Theroux and Olympian Dina Asher-Smith.

The song is also inspired by football manager José Mourinho’s iconic “I’ll get in big trouble if I talk” moment.

It’s fitting, then, that the man himself made a cameo in a scene where he shares the same screen with the Vossi Bop rapper.

Near the end of Stormzy’s video, she also pays homage to the pioneers of Black British culture, with an oral segment voiced by Michaela Coel.

“We’re talking about the foundation today,” the Emmy-winning actor and creator of I May Destroy You can be heard saying. “Many great Black-influenced giants have touched people soul to soul for many generations.

“Greatness often comes to mind, but football legends like Ian Wright bring out greatness.

“Our DNA gives us strength. We can make a song out of anything and dance.”

Appearing in the series include football legend Ian Wright, broadcaster Trevor Nelson, singer Gabrielle and eight-time gold medalist Usain Bolt.

Stormzy is joined onscreen by some of her musical peers including Dave, Little Simz, Headie One and JME, while Brenda Edwards takes the stage to commemorate her son Jamal, who passed away at the age of 31 earlier this year.

As the founder of SBTV, Jamal is credited with helping launch the careers of a number of great British artists, including Ed Sheeran, Dave, Rita Ora, N-Dubz and Stormzy.

Stormzy is gearing up for the release of her third studio album, which was unveiled at the end of her UK tour earlier this year.

After releasing her debut album Gang Signs & Prayer in 2017, the grime star made headlines at Glastonbury, won three Brit Awards and topped the UK singles chart three times with Take Me Back To London with Vossi Bop, Own It and Ed Sheeran. .
