panajiA Goa court on Friday extended the judicial custody of two defendants arrested in the case related to the death of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sonali Phogat by 14 days. Phogat was brought dead to a hospital in Anjuna on August 23.
Police claimed they were given an “objectionable substance” mixed with water to drink. Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class extended the court custody of defendants Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh for 14 days, a police official said. Both accused of Sonali’s murder have been housed at Kolwale Central Jail.
The court has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) request to question Sangwan and Singh in jail, officials said. A CBI team is present in Goa to investigate this matter. (agency)
