Normal to below normal rainfall likely through January – PakistanOUS News

KARACHI: The country is expected to experience normal to below normal rainfall from November 2022 to January 2023, according to the Met Office’s new seasonal outlook.

Parts of northern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience below normal rainfall during the period.

However, South Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh are expected to receive near normal rainfall from November to January 2023.

Temperatures are likely to remain above normal in the north of the country, but slightly above normal in the western to southwestern region and near normal in eastern regions.

From November 2022 to January 2023, temperatures are expected to drop slightly in the country. The dry weather could favor the harvest of crops in Kharif.

“The drought will have a negative impact on the air quality index in urban areas (south and central Punjab) of the country,” the Met said.

During the period, dusty winds will also start in southern parts of Punjab and upper Sindh.
