New Delhi. The widespread action against the radical Popular Front organization in India has created panic. Action taken against PFI (operation) Top government sources said Thursday that the planning and coordination with various states and agencies took months. The security officers held meetings or talks with their counterparts very carefully to keep the operation secret as per the instructions given from above. Such was the secrecy that National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met with the Kerala Police at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gone to Kochi to commission the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant earlier this month.

Following instructions from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the security team carried out the operation while he took command of the NSA. After Kerala, Ajit Doval moved to Mumbai, where he stayed at the city’s Governor’s House for a meeting with security officials. The sources said that he took great care to ensure the action. At the same time, it was also said that just as the secrecy was kept during the abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, so too was the secrecy kept in this action. The sources said that the action plan against PFIs allegedly involved in various anti-national activities has been underway for the past three to four months and has developed in such a way that action was taken in 11 states simultaneously.

Simultaneously, investigative agencies and police forces launched a midnight operation in 11 states to prevent PFI cadres from panicking and fleeing, where more than 105 PFI cadres have been arrested so far. The sources said that in view of the information received from the arrested activists, there is a need for more operations to catch more PFI workers.
