Badaun: A district court sentenced parents to death for killing their daughter and her boyfriend.
District Judge Pankaj Kumar Agrawal has handed down death sentences to four people, including the mother and father of the girl who was murdered along with her boyfriend, in Wazirganj ward, Uttar Pradesh, Badaun, 2017.
The parents of Asha, 19, aided by two relatives, allegedly killed their daughter and her boyfriend, Govind Kumar, 23, to death with an ax after they fled earlier this month.
Asha’s father allegedly called the duo home under the guise of fixing their marriage. Instead, when the two arrived, they were tied up with rope and hacked to death.
The accused then buried the bodies in the courtyard of the house, which were later found.
The couple belonged to the same community but the girl’s family was against their relationship.
District government lawyer Anil Singh Rathore told reporters: “Asha and Govind were murdered by Elder Jaldhara’s mother, Father Kishan Lal, along with parents Vijay Pal and Ram Veer on May 14. 2017. The accused buried the bodies in the house but a neighbor caught them in the act and informed Govind’s father, Pappu Lal.
The police were informed and the bodies were found. The four defendants were arrested and convicted under Articles 147 (riot), 148 (riot with deadly weapons), 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence) of the ICC. »
The court called it a “cold-blooded murder” and, based on the evidence and eyewitness testimony, handed down the death sentence for all four defendants.
Another district government lawyer, Atul Kumar Singh, added, “This is a very rare judgment, as even the girl’s mother was given such a severe sentence for showing extreme brutality.
