Epidemic diseases took hold in the flood-affected areas of Sindh
Karachi (92 News) – In the areas of Sindh affected by the floods, epidemics have set in and there is a lack of medical facilities.
Victims sheltered by the roadside and in aid camps suffer from various illnesses. In most districts, victims suffer from malaria, gastroenteritis and cholera. Most districts also lack medical facilities due to which deaths are also taking place. According to the PDMA report, more than seven hundred people have lost their lives so far due to the flood situation.
There is a lack of medical facilities in aid camps and hospitals in Qamber Shahdadkot district. Aid camps are infested with mosquitoes, but not all of them have mosquito nets due to which victims suffer from malaria.
The Larkana Division of the Department of Health released new malaria case statistics. More than thirty thousand eight cases of malaria have been reported in the Larkana division alone. In other districts, including Dadu District, Jacobabad District and Sanghar District, flood victims also struggle with hunger and disease.
