The final round of the 12th Bank Habib Rashiddi Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2023 was played at Karachi Golf Club on Sunday, January 22. Defending champion Waheed Baloch defended his title with a superb 277, 11 under par. This year’s runner-up was Muhammad Shahzad with a score of ten under par, while Pakistan’s top golfer Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal finished third. The two-day competition in junior and senior category was held on Saturday and Sunday. On the first day of the Juniors, 14-year-old Ash’s Amjad birdied the thirteenth hole and achieved the feat of a hole-in-one. The winner in this category is Muhammad Sahil, while Ishath Amjad is second. Ash’as has received a new Toyota car through Bank Al Habib. The Senior Professional Award went to Muhammad Tariq while Muhammad Akram emerged as the runner-up. Abdul Waheed, Latif Khaskheli and Salim Inayat won the first three positions in the KCG Senior Professionals category. They scored 78, 81 and 82 respectively. Nooruddin won the trophy in the KGC Professionals category and the runner-up was Iqbal Masih. Abdullah, Jalil and Zubair jointly secured the third position in this category. In the KCG caddies category, Tariq Kamal became the new winner by completing eleven overs. Speed-up Sabir Akbar was three points behind him. M Javed, Nabil Khan and Zakir Ali are third in this category with a combined score of fifteen over par. This year the total prize money of the tournament is one crore Pakistan rupees which is divided among the winning players according to the winning rules of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF). Of this amount, 7.95 million rupees were allocated to the best players in the professional category of the country, 14 million rupees to caddies, professionals and senior professionals of Karachi Golf Club. Also Rs.650,000 to the five best professionals according to the current status of PGF; Muhammad Shabbir Iqbal, Muhammad Alam, Muhammad Munir and three senior professionals: Muhammad Tariq, Tahir Naseem and Muhammad Akram were paid as appearance fees.
Chief of Pakistan Navy – Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military, Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military, Satara Imtiaz Military, Satara Basalt were the chief guests of the ceremony which included Bank Habib Chairman Abbas D. Habib distributed the trophies . and prize money among the winners. Admiral Amjad Niazi appreciated the efforts and support of Abbas de Habib family and Habib Bank management for promoting golf in Pakistan. Al Habib Bank Chairman Abbas D. Habib thanked Karachi Golf Club, Sindh Golf Authority and others for successfully organizing the 12th Rashid D. Habib Golf Tournament. He congratulated the winning players and encouraged the players who participated in the tournament from all over Pakistan.
